We didn't have reliable internet for the past week or so, because our wonderful (and cheap) new cable company accidentally disconnected our service. I guess the people who lived here before us had a disconnection date that was after our connection date, and so they turned us on and then turned us off real fast, like a cheap hollywood ho. Anyway we are back online now, and from the land of the mundane and extraneous details, I am happy to report that we have a new kitchen faucet, new toilet innards that work better, and new locks on the doors, that work, without wrist-breaking craziness every time you want to do the deadbolt.
Today we also went to the RMV, the Massachusetts version of the DMV, where they made (at least) 4 mistakes on our 4 transactions. They forgot to put sean's motorcycle endorsement on his license, they misspelled our street name (on both our driver licenses), and they gave me a set of license plates with a slightly different number from the number they entered into their system. We fixed all of these but the last one before we left the office. Anyway it was high adventure time for the O'Callaghans. We stopped at the ATM to withdraw an obscene amount of cash for all the transactions (the final total was $350), then went to the RMV by 8am, even though it didn't open until 8:30. We were 6th in line. By the time the place opened, there must have been 40 people in line. We got numbers (like at the bakery or the post office) for our transactions, but it ended up that we got called to two different counters at the same time, with the result that I got so nervous that we were going to have to start over that I look like a stroke victim in my license picture. Well maybe I look like a stroke victim anyway?
We're "pending" on our house now, which means we are waiting for closing. Unfortunately we had to hire a contractor to gut the house first so we're hoping that all the repairs get done before closing. It's a little nervewracking, but I'm kind of beyond caring. Just show us the money!
This weekend we're going to northern Vermont for a little fall "follage" vacation. I guess that means we'll be "leaf peepers." Phoenix is going to a doggie resort, where they do evening storytime and snacks and school and playgroup. Maple will be going to the award winning daycare so Mama and Daddy can celebrate our anniversary with four hours of alone time. We can't wait.
